How We Work
How the articles on this site are researched, reviewed, and corrected.
What this site covers
Kept Shiny publishes about household surface cleaning and material care for US homeowners (US English spelling, imperial units). Each article aims to answer one question completely — including the cases where the common advice is wrong.
How an article is made
- Topic selection. Subjects are chosen from measured search demand, not from what is easy to write about.
- Research. Each article is grounded in current sources, listed at the foot of the page so you can check them.
- Drafting. Articles are drafted with AI assistance. We say so on every page rather than leaving you to guess.
- Review. Kept Shiny Editorial reviews every article before publication. Claims are checked, and anything we cannot support is cut.
- Correction. When we get something wrong, we fix it.
What we won't publish
- Advice that puts a reader at risk
- Claims we cannot support with a source or a stated reason
- Content written to rank rather than to answer
Where our limits are
We are not a substitute for qualified professional advice. When a question carries consequences beyond what general information can address, we say so and stop.
